Linen Handling
Linen should be handled with care to avoid dispersion of microorganisms into the environment and avoid contamination of staff clothing.
1.Personal protective equipment should always be worn while handling soiled linen.
2.Wet soiled linen should be placed into waterproof laundry bags for safe transport.
3.Place linen bag as close to the source of use to avoid unnecessary dispersion.
4.Only fill % full % bag of wet linen can weigh up to 15kgs
5.Over filled linen bags can cause shoulder or back injury ( Safety Alert)
Waste Handling and Disposal
1.Standard precautions should be used when handling waste to avoid exposure to blood and body products. Following procedure hands should be washed.
2.Manual handling of waste should be avoided; compacting waste by hand or over-filling bags is not advised.
3.Waste should be contained in the appropriate receptacle, contaminated waste into yellow bio-hazard bags and all general waste into blue bags, any sharps into sharp containers.
